While compiling this week’s menagerie of gaming-centric webcomics, we suddenly realized — man, a ton of gaming-centric webcomics have fallen off the map this past year. Regular contenders like Dipswitch, 2P Start, Slackerz and Sidescroller have either stopped updating or formally shut down entirely. We need to fatten up our catalog — if you’ve got a favorite strip that you’ve been keeping to yourself, now would be a great time to drop a link to it in the comments! All we’ve ever wanted from this humble weekly feature is for one reader — just one! — to react as passionately to our favorite comics as the now-infamous Hungrybear did to those full-on double rainbows . We’re not sure how to go about accomplishing this feat. We could try contacting each webcomic to ask if they’d turn up their color intensity, but that may be too much to ask.

Though Joystiq has undergone some substantial design changes recently, we still think it’s important for us to remember our roots. We’re keep the spirit of the old, blue Joystiq alive in the El Verde -designed logo posted above. That way, when we show our grandkids the fruits of our internet labor, we can point to the Weekly Webcomic Wrapup’s branding and say, “well, Darlene, the whole site used to look like that.” (Note: If our future children ever name their future children “Darlene,” we will disown them.)
