While compiling this week’s menagerie of gaming-centric webcomics, we suddenly realized — man, a ton of gaming-centric webcomics have fallen off the map this past year. Regular contenders like Dipswitch, 2P Start, Slackerz and Sidescroller have either stopped updating or formally shut down entirely. We need to fatten up our catalog — if you’ve got a favorite strip that you’ve been keeping to yourself, now would be a great time to drop a link to it in the comments! In the mean time, check out our seven favorite strips from this past week below, and vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump! Words and Their Meanings (Penny Arcade) Fortune Cookies (Brawl in the Family) Here and Gone (Digital Unrest) Bat Out of Hell Part Two (Awkward Zombie) Death of a Middleman (No Cash Value) Scott Pilgrim vs.

It seems that, at least for the moment, the temperature has cooled to something below its “melt everything” setting and we can finally — finally! — have ourselves a Summah ! What’s that? You’re scared to have a Summah?

All we’ve ever wanted from this humble weekly feature is for one reader — just one! — to react as passionately to our favorite comics as the now-infamous Hungrybear did to those full-on double rainbows . We’re not sure how to go about accomplishing this feat. We could try contacting each webcomic to ask if they’d turn up their color intensity, but that may be too much to ask.

The Joystiq Podcast wasn’t the only regular feature that we were to slammed to produce last week — the rigors of E3 2010 also prevented us from doing the Weekly Webcomic Wrapup. As such, we’ve decided to include our favorite comics from the past two weeks this time around

Though Joystiq has undergone some substantial design changes recently, we still think it’s important for us to remember our roots. We’re keep the spirit of the old, blue Joystiq alive in the El Verde -designed logo posted above. That way, when we show our grandkids the fruits of our internet labor, we can point to the Weekly Webcomic Wrapup’s branding and say, “well, Darlene, the whole site used to look like that.” (Note: If our future children ever name their future children “Darlene,” we will disown them.) Below are our seven favorite gaming-centric webcomics from this past week

It’s difficult to squeeze humor out of a situation as upsetting as the BP Oil Spill, but Virtual Shackles’ ” What They Do Best ” does so in a pretty effective manner.
